Banana Hair Mask to Help Your Sh!tty Hair!

I have a weird admission. I hate ripened bananas. I like my bananas slightly green still. Is that weird?

Banana

Don’t judge me!

Anyway, I had left over ripened bananas. Since, they are now officially unedible, I did what every other normal, regular person would do. I made a banana hair mask.

Bananas are rich in potassium that strengthens hair, minimizes breakage by restoring your hair’s natural elasticity, and facilitates repair of damaged hair. Bananas also moisturize your hair as they contain natural oils and about 75% water.

The basic idea is: you take a banana, smush it and you put it all over your scalp and hair.

If you feel like putting a little bit more effort into it, you can add any one or a combo of the following to the mixture

  • Coconut Oil – Holy grail of hair treatment. It helps hair growth, minimizes hair loss, help reduce damage, conditions, its anti-dandruff, anti-fungal, and the list goes on!
  • Olive Oil – Smooths hair, anti-dandruff, conditions, adds shine, tames frizzles, softens hair, and more
  • Honey – Adds and retains moisture, minimizes hair loss, softens hair, adds sheen, EXCELLENT for dry, dull, brittle hair. Also its smells and tastes yummy!
  • Milk – Makes hair soft and shiny
  • Yoghurt – Conditions, adds and retains moisture, helps soothe itchy scalp, anti fungal, anti bacterial, ati dandruff, cools your scalp (ya hot head!)
  • Avacado – helps support hair growth, adds shine, prevents hair loss, promotes hair growth
  • The blood of your enemies – helps absorb their power into your body through your scalp.
  • Coconut Milk – Nourishes hair, prevents balding, stimulates hair growth, helps detangle hair, conditions, moisturizes
  • Possibly anything else that may be going bad in your kitchen

Here is what I used:

2 Bananas
2 Tbs of milk
1 Tbs of Coconut Oil
1 Tbs of Olive oil
aka everything I had.

Pro tip: USE A BLENDER!!! There is nothing like having annoying banana chunks in your hair!

It should look like this:

I sectioned off my hair, and spooned the mixture onto my scalp. I then massaged the mixture in. THIS FEELS AMAZING! It was super cooling! Keep going until your entire scalp has been covered. Then massage the rest onto the length of your hair. Wrap it up in a shower cap, plastic bag, or a towel. (The general theme of this entire process is: Use what you have!)

Keep the mask on for a minimum of 20 minutes and a maximum of whenever you have time to wash it off! [I kept it on for about 2 hours]

Shampoo and condition as normal.

Dry:

Then do this for the next few hours!

It MAY smell like bananas for a bit but I feel the smell fades away after a few hours.

The hair ends up being very shiny, smooth and soft. The tips of my hair has been feeling a bit frayed lately, and after this mask, it feels just as shiny and smooth as the rest of the hair!
